In June 2005, Oregon passed legislation setting minimum energy efficiency standards for eleven appliances. For most products, these standards became effective January 1, 2007 though some standards wait to take effect on January 1, 2009. In 2007, a second bill was passed adding efficiency standards for several more appliances to take effect in 2008.

Oregon’s standards apply to all products sold for final use in the state; they do not apply to products installed in a mobile or manufactured home at the time of construction or designed expressly for installation and use in recreational vehicles.
